What is Love

April 9, 2014 1 comment

We say it so many times to people. Yet we don’t understand the true meaning of what love is.
We have been indoctrinated with the concept of love by TV Shows, Movies, Social Media, ..
So much that even in the dictionary the definition of love, portrays the same concept.
The dictionary definition of love is as follows.
1. a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person.
2. a feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection, as for a parent, child, or friend.
3. sexual passion or desire.

These definitions show us how Love is a selfish act. How it makes me feel, What my desires is.
This Love is not a true example of love. True love has a much deeper meaning.
Has much more power, Much more affection, Much more meaning.

I will try to explain the true meaning of love. To look at this explanation we should not look at man for it.
But the Creator of Love, The Teacher of love, The Example of love.
The Love that God Created, Teaches, Showed us is called agapē
Agapē is defined as
Benevolence “welwillendheid” : Disposition to do good, An act of kindness, A generous gift
Goodwill : Kind, Helpful, or friendly feeling or attitude
Esteem : Worth, Value

You will notice that biblical love, and the world’s view of love is not the same.
Biblical love is not a feeling, it’s not a desire.
Biblical love is. Patient, Kind, not jealous, not boasting, not arrogant

1 Corinthians 13:4 (NIV)
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

Proverbs 10:12 (NIV)
Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs.

The problem with the worldly view of love is.
What if the passionate affection is gone, what if the warm personal feeling is gone, what if the sexual desire is gone.
does that mean that love is gone. And that is one of the main reasons for divorce.
Some of the reasons for divorce is. Adultery and the main reason for adultery is because the other person makes me warm and fuzzy inside. The other reason is Irreconcilable Difference,
Any sort of difference between the two parties that either cannot or will not be changed can be considered irreconcilable differences. This in other words mean that I like coffee and my spouse likes tea we differ on this and she tried coffee and I tried tea and we just can’t agree on the taste, and therefore we can get a divorce based on our difference. Now people will say, this is a stupid example. But the truth is that if we can’t agree on a beverage we will certainly disagree on numerous other things, E.G how to raise children, roles and responsibilities, ….

Romans 12:6 (NIV)
We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith;

Show’s us that we all have different gifts, Surely if each of us has different gifts, our personalities will also differ.
This shows us again how selfish the worldly view of love is. “If you don’t agree with ME, then you must not love me”
This just opens up a new can of worms.
Yet the biblical definition contradict the worldly view. And you will ask why.
Well if we look at the fall of man, we see that sin entered into the world.
And because of sin.

2 Timothy 3:2 (NIV)
People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,

This is a clear picture that shows us how people will see Love in our sinful state.
This explains our natural nature against God.
So are we dammed to hell because our concept of love has been corrupted.
No we can learn the true meaning of love, because of the fall
we have sinned against God, We have loved ourselves. We are ungrateful.
Yet God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. This Love that God showed us here is not a worldly love, but a much deeper love
Unconditional Love “agapē”, there wasn’t any conditions that had to be met, God just gave it, while we rebelled against him. The bible say we should love our enemy

Luke 6:35 (NIV)
But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.

Why should we love our enemy? Well God loved you while you while you rebelled against him.
Should He had the same love you have for your enemy!, we all would have been condemned.
But no He still love us. Unconditionally

See the picture of love we should have is to mirror the Love that God have for us.
We should love each other as God Loved us.

Ephesians 5:1-2 (NIV)
1 Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children
2 and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Their for we should love each other in the same manner.
We should not be full of our self’s, but have other’s in mind. Love is not about me, but my action towards others

John 3:16 – The Story of Love

Categories: Uncategorized

Acts 3:1-16

1 One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer—at three in the afternoon.
2 Now a man who was lame from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts.
3 When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money.
4 Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, “Look at us!”
5 So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them.
6 Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.”
7 Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong.
8 He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God.
9 When all the people saw him walking and praising God,
10 they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.
11 While the man held on to Peter and John, all the people were astonished and came running to them in the place called Solomon’s Colonnade.
12 When Peter saw this, he said to them: “Fellow Israelites, why does this surprise you? Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk?
13 The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus. You handed him over to be killed, and you disowned him before Pilate, though he had decided to let him go.
14 You disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you.
15 You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. We are witnesses of this.
16 By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has completely healed him, as you can all see. –
Acts 3:1-16 (NIV)

Just imagine the joy this lame man had when he could walk after all the years of being lame.
It must have been such an experience to see this miracle.
As I read the scripture I was wondering to myself how I would have reacted being there to witness this,
and then I thought, I’ve been there, I’ve seen this, But how. Well in our everyday life.
Yet we act just like the Sadducees. Let me explain
See when we see a fellow believe come to Faith in Christ we do sometimes questions the depth of their conversion especially with the modern day gospel, We look at them just as the people looked at the lame man and see that they only wanted to be saved, because of the promises the modern day gospel made him of richness / health and a prosperous life,
Yet we forget that we were in the same boat not too long ago, We used God, We knew God in times of trouble, when we needed advice, when we are looking for answers in career choice,
help me get out of my financial problems. So on and so on.
Aren’t all these things we are asking for also gold and silver, just as the lame man begged for? Shouldn’t we rather ask for the knowledge of how to accomplish our decisions, Shouldn’t we rather ask how our decision will and can influence our spiritual life. This was how we reacted when we first turned to Christ for our salvation.
Yet the problem is that we forget the joy when we started to walking again.
See just as it is written in Ephesians 2:1-10

1 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins,
2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.
3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh+ and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath.
4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy,
5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.
6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,
7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.
8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—
9 not by works, so that no one can boast.
10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Ephesians 2:1-10 (NIV)

We were dead in our transgressions and sins. In other words we were lame in our faith. This passage is such a wonderful example of the Gospel and our personal walk with God,
We were lame, the Holy spirit raised us up and we could start walking again. Yet one big difference is the lame man rejoiced in his salvation, and what do we do.
Our conversions was just a joyful point in our lives. We wanted to share this amazing event, and as years passed we forgot this joy and just kept walked.
We don’t share this wonderful event any more, Please don’t get me wrong I’m not saying that
1. We shouldn’t question people’s salvation. We should rejoice with them and help them to understand the true salvation they received.
2. We are allowed to ask for help in our live, But this shouldn’t be the only reason for our believes.
This lame man walked and jumped and praised God, and the modern day Christians jumped and praised there pastors for their salvation.
There isn’t repentance any more, Salvation these days are all about saying a prayer or as pastor “hitting” you on the forehead. a pastor say a pray en you fall on the floor.
Or a great “Show/Event” that made you feel warm and fuzzy inside. There isn’t any biblical salvation any more.
The salvation of a wretched sinners, that we are saved by grace through faith, Has been lost by a new age Christian,
And now Christianity is a way of works. How good you are, How much money you give to your church, your attendance at church.
The impression of modern day churches are to have fun.
The word Gospel has been changed to the type of music in the church.
You shouldn’t talk about your faith, you should live it out. if you live it out,
How will you know who is the true God of the bible when looking at a Jehovah Witness, Mormon, and Christian.

So what are we suppose to-do

1. Pray
2. Preach the Gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ – The Good News
3. Help our brethren in their understanding of salvation

See this is why we need to join a biblical base church.
and as I’ve said it before if you are in a church that makes you feel good, you are in the wrong church.

I Pray that that the Holy Spirit may guide your hearts in the understand of my message to you.

Have a Good Opinion of Yourself – Joel / Victoria Osteen – Part 1

http://castroller.com/podcasts/JoelOsteenVideo/1815448

Well the summary of the Pod cast is saying the following.
“So often it’s easy to see the best in others, but it’s important to start seeing the best in yourself. After all, you are created in the image of God and are fearfully and wonderfully made. You are a new creation; a son, a daughter of the Most High God. You have good in you, the spirit of Almighty God dwelling in you! When we have a poor opinion of ourselves, feeling inferior, intimidated, and insecure, it doesn’t bring any honour to God. Instead, it’s like we are criticizing His creation…”

Now the problem is
1. We are not Good in the eyes of God.
We all are sinful by nature and we sin against God every single day in our live.
When looking at the following scripture this is clear

Romans 3: 9-12

9 What shall we conclude then? Do we have any advantage? Not at all! For we have already made the charge that Jews and Gentiles alike are all under the power of sin.

10 As it is written

“There is no one righteous, not even one;

11 there is no one who understands;

there is no one who seeks God.

12 All have turned away,

they have together become worthless;

there is no one who does good,

not even one.”

So if scripture say that there is no one who does good, how can Joel say this.

The introduction in the video A Lady is saying the following.
Your imagination is a wonderful and powerful inspiration from God.
He wants you to use your imagination and see your future through the eyes of faith.

Okay so I’ve got a problem with this.
I can’t find anything that is scripture about this.
I can’t find where in scripture you can see your future though the eyes of faith.

Except the following Ecclesiastes 8:7

7. Since no one knows the future,

who can tell someone else what is to come?

So she continues with Joel and victory want’s to send you a copy of “Imagine”

In this new series you will be challenged to start imagining the dreams you have in your hart.

And that God is able to make those dreams come true. This is your Monument Imagine God doing wonderful things in your life..”

This sound very idealistic to me,
This sounds very much breaking most of the 10 Commandments.

Now my question is if this is idealistic why would God this dream of mine to come true.

Wasn’t Job a very well off man, and yet he lost everything he had. And yet he did not loss his faith.
isn’t this a biblical story that we should be focusing on when it comes to earthly matters.

This just sounds to me to much as a name it claim it concept.
and that is not biblical.

And she end’s with this is your moment.
Now this again sound very much to me that I’m the centre of the universe.

So then Joel’s Wife Victoria just confirms what the promo was saying.

And just confirm that it’s up to us, again here we go with the
1. Name it Claim it,
2. It’s about you

Then she say stay around positive people. mmm again that doesn’t sound very biblical to me.
Jesus said the following in
Luke 6:33
33 And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that.

Shouldn’t we start preaching the word to the negative people, and not only surround our self with positive people.
See there is a difference if you are positive in yourself or positive in God.
being positive in God is clear in scripture that because of our sinful life we believe in Christ death and resurrection for our salvation

again it’s about you… and how you can feel good about yourself.
We’ve now reached 1min into a 30min section and this far it’s all about ME.

I would have love to her them preach this heresy to the people in the world trade centre just before 9/11
or the Boston marathon people that was killed. Or the people that die every day.

How about preaching the true Gospel. The Gospel that Jesus told his disciples to preach
Mark 16:15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.

This is probably cause it will not make you money if you start preaching the truth. And not ear tickling preaching.
The vision that God has for us is to have eternal life. Not the best life you can have now.
because the best is still to come when our saviour Jesus Christ returns.

And what are you going to say to Him, Sorry I’ve already had my best life.

and I’m not even going to start with what his “creed” is when he start’s his sermon.
“Hold up your bibles…..”
This is also so un biblical and un doctoring as can be….

Please people. Act 17:11
End of Part 1
Part 2 will look at the sermon

Reciprocity

If we look at the word Reciprocity, I basically means “Do a good deed for another and the favour will be returned. ”
as you know both of us would like to validate statements according to scripture.

Let’s look at what scripture is saying.

Luke 6:31-33
31 Do to others as you would have them do to you.
32 “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them.

33 And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that.

Jesus was speaking here about this,
Basically if you are being “nice” to someone because they are nice to you, you are being a hypocrite

You should always be “nice” to people event if they aren’t “nice” to you.

Jesus also spoke about this in Matthew 5 “Sermon on the Mount”
verse 16 : “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Be an example to other
verse 39-40 : “39 But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. 40 And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well.”

There is more scriptures that show’s us this, However Jesus clearly teaches that don’t be nice just because you want people to be nice back to you.

When it comes to a relationship with a partner as the above was a basic look at a relationship with others,
we can have a look at what Paul said in Ephesians.
in Ephesians 2 : 8 – 9
8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—
9 not by works, so that no one can boast.
You will notice that Paul also teaches us that it’s not by our works.
Therefor you cannot say because I’m nice you should be nice back and if you are nice to me it’s because I’ve been nice to you. The reason why I brought this passage in is because we should build our relationship on the base’s of the Gospel. And this Paul teaches us in Ephesians 5 : it shows us the instructions of a Christian household.
There we will see that wife submit to your husband as the church submits to Christ.
and Husbands love your wife as Christ loves the church.
it doesn’t say that wife’s should submit if there husband’s love them, Or if the husband is nice to you.
submit because it’s a command from God.
same with the husband, Love you wife, Not because she is nice to you, makes you food, cleans for you, …
Love her no matter what as this is an Instruction from God.
See the problem that I have with Reciprocity is,
Christ didn’t die on the cross so that we must love him.
He died for us because he loves us, and he did it for everyone.
The thing is Christ died for everyone, but only the one’s that accepts his salvation through Christ and repent will have eternal life.
The Thief on the cross next to Jesus, Basically hated God in his life and this is not only the thief that’s all humans as we sin against God every single day. Yet God still loved him, not because of good works, because his is God’s child.
yet he was only saved when he realized his sinful life and repented.
So my idea of a relationship is not to be nice and hope to be nice back,
But always be nice, and do everything in Love for one another.

John 3:16 (Believes)

John 3:16 (NIV)

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Let’s look at the above scripture and analyse the word believes
the original Greek word for believe is πιστεύων (pisteuōn) — 24 Occurrences in the Bible
Believes :
Verb

  1. Accept (something) as true; feel sure of the truth
  2. Accept the statement of (someone) as true

Direct translation of the word  πιστεύων (pisteuōn) is truster

Truster is Synonyms for:

  • Trust
    • (n) Firm reliance on the integrity, ability, or character of a person or thing.
    • (n) Reliance on something in the future; hope
    • (v) To have or place reliance; depend
    • (v) To be confident; hope
  • Faith
    • (n) Confident belief in the truth, value, or trustworthiness of a person, idea, or thing.
    • (n) Belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence
  • Confidence
    • (n) Trust or faith in a person or thing
    • (n) A trusting relationship
    • (n) The state or quality of being certain
  • Reliance
    • (n) The act of relying or the state of being reliant.
    • (n) The faith, confidence, or trust felt by one who relies; dependence
  • Dependence
    • (n) Subordination to someone or something needed or greatly desired
    • (n) the state of being conditional or contingent on something
      • Contingent
        • (n) a representative group distinguished by common origin, interests, etc., that is part of a larger group or gathering

So the Question is what should we believe in.
When looking at the explanation of the word believe we will see “accept as truth.”

What is the truth about Jesus.

  1. His is God’s one and only Son.
There is no other Son, Only Jesus Christ.
Typical what the Mormons Believe. Is that Jesus and Lucifer are brothers,
This doctrines could make the conclusion that we are also brothers of both parties.
and that could make us little god’s as we are created in the image of God.
and this is also the teaching of
    ots of “Televangelist”
He is not the first created being of God. As the Jehovah’s witness believes
    [John 1:18 (NIV) / John 3:16 (NIV) / John 3:18 (NIV) / 1 John 4:9 (NIV)]
  2. Jesus Born of the Virgin Mary
Mormons believe that the Bible is untrue as it relates to the virgin birth of Jesus. They believe that God the Father came down (in a physical body) and had sex with Mary to conceive Jesus.
    [Matthew 1:18 (NIV) / Luke 1:26-35 (NIV)]
  1. He is God. And he never stopped being God
There is only one God, but He consists of three distinct persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Jesus is not the Father nor the Holy Spirit, yet he is God. part of the Godhead
He was there in the begin and he will be there in the end.
He was not created as the JW would make you think.
He was not a prophet like some other faiths would make you believe
    [Genesis 1:26 (NIV) / John 1:1-5 (NIV)]
  1. He was Crucified for our transgression
Because we are of sinful nature, and heaven is for the perfect.
    [Isaiah 53:5-6 (NIV) / John 19:16 (NIV) / Matthew 5:48 (NIV)]
  1. That He arose again on the third day.
    [1 Corinthians 15:2-4 (NIV)]
  2. Ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty
    [John 3:13 (NIV) / Acts 1:10-11 (NIV) / Acts 2:32-33 (NIV)]
  3. Judgement
God has appointed a day wherein he will judge the world in righteousness, by Jesus Christ
    to whom all power and judgment is given of the Father;
    [Matthew 12:36 (NIV) / Romans 14:10 (NIV)]

See this scripture is used by allot of people to say that is the only way for salvation,
and if you say the “sinners prayer” and believe in Jesus as your personal saviour you are saved.
So is this true,  It’s very clear in scripture. That this is not the only way.
John 3:3 (NIV)

3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV)

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
So how can we be born again.
John 3:6 (NIV)

6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.

This shows us that we need to be reborn in spirit.
We need to understand what we are doing wrong, before we can understand what we should be doing.
and this is called the Good News. How can it be good news if we don’t know for what it is.
if we look at the 10 Commandments (Exodus 20) we will notice that we have broken every command.
Some Examples :

  • Exodus 20:13 (NIV) “You shall not murder.
1 John 3:15 (NIV) Anyone who hates a brother or sister is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him.
  • Exodus 20:14 (NIV) You shall not commit adultery.
Matthew 5:28 (NIV) But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

So if we look at the above example we notice that we have fallen short of the Law, and because of the fall of man, we are born in sin Genesis 3 (NIV) and we are of sinful nature Ephesians 2:1-2 (NIV)

1 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins,

2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.

So what do you believe when you read John 3:16 (NIV)
This is a very Important question you need to ask yourself.

1 Peter 3:15 (NIV)

15 But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,

and if your answer is I believe that I’m saved because God loves me,
I would suggest you relook your believe.
As God showed his Love to us on the cross, Where HE laid on Him the sins of the world, so that He might pay the penalty for them through His death.

There is lots more but I do suggest that you find your “what I believe” and I suggest that what you say, should correspond to what scripture is saying, and not what preachers are telling you to believe.

What is the gospel – Mark Dever

Paul Washer, The Gospel. The most terrifying truth of Scripture… – Paul Washer

Warn people about false teaching

Why should you warn people about false teaching.
And what does the bible say about this topic

Well let’s start with a warning.

Matthew 10:28
28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

So we should fear them which is able to destroy both soul and body.
How do you know, who is the “them” in the above passage.
Well to answer that we can go back to

Matthew 7:15-20

15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

So we shall know them by their fruits.
now if we look at what Luke said in

Acts 17:10-11

10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.

11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

So we need to be like the berian jews and search the scriptures to what is said is true or false.

So let’s take one of our famous false preachers “Joyce Meyers”

So if she say something like “We are called little gods: ” http://carm.org/joyce-meyer
We should search the scriptures to find out if this is true.
and when we look at that we will notice that this is heresy.
So now that we know that there has been one thing that is incorrect from her preaching.
We know that we should start listing to what she is saying with a bible next to us and start searching scriptures.

So now people will start telling me, you should not judge.
seen that you want to live according to the bible. It is clear in

Matthew 7:1

1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.

People please let us read the complete passage.

Matthew 7:1:5

1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.

2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?

5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye

if read the everything we will notice that
We are allowed to judge but do not judge somebody if you are doing the same thing.

So if I’m a gambler how can I judge another gambler for their sins.
Let’s look at what the bible say about judging Christians

1 Corinthians 5:12-13

12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?

13 But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

So if we look at the above, We notice that we are allowed to judge them that say they are Christians.
and God will Judge them that are not.

So to conclude this section.
I would like to ask you a Question
Would you rather warn a blind person about a flight of stears before he fall, or after
if you say before. What do you think I’m doing
if you say after, you say you are a Christian and you would rather see your fellow brethren go to Hell.

Would you rather let your kid burn his hand on a stove or would you rather warn him about it.

if we don’t warn people about false teaching and unsound doctrine. How can we call our self’s Christians
The only thing that we think about is our self’s and read books like “Your best life now” of another false prophet “Joel Osteen”
We should start focusing on a biblical standards.
and if you say that the bible was written age’s ago and is not valid in all things.
you are saying that God is not all knowing,

2 Timothy 3:16

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Speak with tongues

Before please note that this is my interpretation of speaking in tongues. and it differs from how we see people speaking in tongues. I’m not saying that I don’t believe in tongues, I’m saying it’s different than how the modern-day church is saying it is
Mark 16 : 14 – 19 (KJV) 14Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen.
15And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
17And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
19So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.

When looking at Mark 16:17 we will notice Jesus speaking to the 11 Apostles (verse 14), Verse 16 “he that believe and is baptized shall be saved”
Now there is no record of any apostle that was baptized.

This verse is frequently used by baptismal regenerationists to show that baptism is necessary for salvation. It says he who believes and is baptized will be saved. Therefore, they conclude that baptism is a necessary part of becoming saved. But, does this verse prove that baptism is necessary for salvation? Not at all. Baptism is simply a public demonstration of the inner work of regeneration. This is why the rest of the verse says, “…but he who does not believe will be condemned,” Mark 16:16 focuses on the issue of belief, not baptism. Notice that it does not say that he who is not baptized will not be saved. It never says that anywhere in scripture.
Paul pointed to the fact that salvation doesn’t require baptism when he wrote to the 1 Corinthians 1:16-17 (KJV)
16 And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other.
17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. The Bible is clear that salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, not by works of any kind, including baptism

When reading verse 17 there are 5 things that is a mark of a Christian. (and these signs shall follow them that believe)
1. Cast out devils
2. Speak with new Tongues
3. Take up serpents (it shall not hurt them)
4. Drink any deadly thing (it shall not hurt them)
5. Lay hands on the sick (and they shall recover)

Now
The main question here is about Tongues. We will notice that it doesn’t say speak in tongues, But rather speak with new Tongues. (glōssais) ”One you haven’t used before.”
Glōssais is made up of two Greek words, glossa (language or tongue) and lalia (speech). Therefor the word Tongue in the bible can mean Tongue, Language, utterance Utterance : The act of uttering; vocal expression. / The power of speaking; speech: / A manner of speaking:
So this could be translated to “a new language / new utterance”
This could then also be interpreted as You speak English and God’s will is for you to preach the Gospel to a French man, God will give you the ability to speak in French. How did I come to this conclusion, well when we look at Mark 16:15 Jesus commanded the eleven to. “Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” Acts 2:1-6
1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.
6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.
Now we notice that he here it say’s other tongues not new tongues like in Mark 16 We have 2 opinions. In the interpretation of this text 1. The miracle was In the way the men spoke This would be something like a other language rather than the traditional language spoken back in the day. Hebrew, Greek, Latin. Verse 4 2. The miracle was not in the speaking but in the hearing. This would be where people that spoke Hebrew could understand the men speaking in Greek. and this is draw from Verse 6
So the question would be how do I know that there where more than one language used. verse 5 is clear on the “out of every nation under heaven”
So in modern term, USA / Africa / China / French / Italian /….. Each country under the heavens. I do feel that we need to keep 2 things in mind here when reading these passages.
1. What is Pentecost
2. The Gospel.
Pentecost (The feast of weeks, feast of harvest)
Shavuot (Pentecost) was originally a festival for expressing thankfulness to the Lord for the blessing of the harvest. And because it occurred at the conclusion of the Passover, it acquired the name “Latter Firstfruits.” So this will be a day where all nations came together to express their thankfulness of the harvest. So you can imagine that there could have been a few different languages spoken. and how would one be able to proclaim the Gospel of our lord and saviour Jesus Christ if they weren’t able to speak in tongues “other languages” We cannot interpret this as a gift to all, but rather keep it in context of the time and place.
1 Corinthians 14:1-5
1 Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.
2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.
3 But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.
4 He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.
5 I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.

So if we look at the above scripture we notice that Paul is speaking here about “Unknown Tongue”. This is a Tongue that nobody understand. Then when we look at verse 4 we see that he that speak in an unknown tongue edify himself, and he that prophesy edify the church. It doesn’t say that he who speak don’t understand only the people listening don’t understand. the fore if the person that speak in tongues don’t understand what they are saying, and nobody else understand what they are saying, what is the reasoning behind speaking in tongues.
edify : to improve the mind or morals of / You receive benefit

see I’ve got question regarding speaking in tongues
1. if tongues are a language for Christians, why aren’t all Christians blessed with this gift. (1 Corinthians 12:8-9 answers this for me.)
2. If the reason for tongues are so that non-Christians don’t understand what you are saying, why did Jesus say “Go into the world and preach the Gospel”
3. If this is a language from God. Why do we need to learn it from men, and not via the holy spirit. (as it say that the holy spirit came down on men. Not men teaching other men)
4. If it’s a language that you don’t want the devil to understand, why do you worry what he knows, aren’t we suppose to put all our trust in Christ Jesus.
